West Lakes Paddle Sports Paddling program

RECREATION PADDLING
Full members have access to the clubrooms and boats, paddles, and lifejackets 24/7 for paddling at West Lakes. Or store your own boat.
All-Stars Paddling Group meets regularly Wednesday 6am and Saturday 7am for a casual paddle. Contact the club for further details.
Supervised Beginner paddling sessions 9am Saturdays

Club Events

  • 6km time trials and pancakes at the club- last Saturday of the Month 7am
  • Family Paddles at Reservoirs (all members)
  • Dolphin and Historic Port Paddles (experienced paddlers*)
  • Join a Winter Marathon event- refer to competition paddling (experienced paddlers)
  • Sunset paddle and BBQ at West Lakes- during daylight savings

    Refer to the WLPS Members Facebook Page, Club Emails, and the events calendar for dates
    *Experienced Paddlers- Comfortable paddling to the eastern footbridge and back (time limit a 1⁄2 hour each way)

  • Learn skills and stability for racing boats

  • Develop and refine skills
  • Strength and endurance training
  • Preparation for sprint and marathon seasons.
  • Compete in State Regattas and Marathon events.

  • Qualified coaches – Kayak, Canoe, and gym sessions.


Coaching contribution fees apply
Multiple Sessions: Weekdays (6am)(4:30pm), Saturday (7am)- Coach will determine which sessions are available for attending – dependent on
assessment of skills and competence of paddler.
West Lakes provides assisted paddling sessions for those people with a disability that require assistance to either enjoy a recreational paddle or
develop their skills to compete in para paddling, we will provide the coaching and support to get you moving on the water.
